Andermatt is a popular tourist destination high in the Swiss Alps. The small historic city village is developing strongly – the station area plays a key role. The new quarter around the train station aims to become a connector between a new touristic resort and the old centre of Andermatt. We envision a lively mixed-use development – a place for services and living, and various leisure activities, including indoor and outdoor sports facilities. The idea is to bring urban moments in to the mountains and give the village a new center. The layout is based on a carefully designed series of urban promenades in order to provide orientation for the flow of people. The architecture and the block typologies relate to the surroundings and give the local tradition a new twist.
